Pedoulas

Pedhoulas (Greek Πεδουλάς ) is a mountain village in Cyprus, which lies at an altitude of about 1100 m in Marathasa valley of the Troodos Mountains. The name is said to date back to the words Pediada (Valley) and read ( people ).

Pedhoulas is best known as the site of the church Archangelos Michael ( Church of the Archangel Michael ), one of the ten World Heritage Site by UNESCO belonging barn roof churches. In addition, the place has eleven churches and chapels.

In Pedhoulas there are two museums: the Byzantine Museum, opened in 1999, in which mainly icons are exhibited, as well as the Folkloric Museum opened in 2005.

At the 2001 census Pedhoulas had 191 inhabitants.
