Pedro Infante
José Pedro Infante Cruz, better known as Pedro Infante ( born November 18, 1917 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, † April 15, 1957 in Mérida, Yucatán ) was a Mexican actor and singer. With Pedro Armendáriz, and Jorge Negrete, he was one of the most famous male stars of the " golden age " of Mexican film.
Life
The parents of Pedro Infante were Delfino Infante García, and Refugio Cruz Aranda. He was the third of fifteen siblings, of which only nine reached adulthood. Infante broke off his studies and worked as an errand boy and Zimmermann. In his youth, he quickly learned to play several instruments and was interested in popular music. With his wealthy wife María Luisa León, he moved to Mexico City and began a career as a singer and actor. As Ranchera singer, he was known by the radio station XEB in Mexico City. In 1939 he made his film debut. By Ismael Rodríguez ' films Nosotros los pobres (1947 ) and Ustedes los ricos (1948 ) obtained Infante, with its open, folk associated type wide popularity among the public. Contrary to contemporary Mexican film spread macho stereotype he played in Roberto Rodríguez ' Dicen que soy mujeriego (1948 ) a man who masculinity not to inflict suffering, but enduring the looks of it. In the 1950s, he turned next to Ismael Rodríguez also common among the directors Rogelio A. González and Miguel Zacarias. 1955 and 1956 Infante received an Ariel respectively. At the International Film Festival in Berlin in 1957, he was awarded for his portrayal of Aztec ruler Tizoc in the eponymous film posthumously awarded the Silver Bear.
His divorce from María Luisa León was not recognized by Mexican authorities. In addition to his lawful wife Infante had therefore two lovers, Lupita Torrentera and Irma Dorantes, with whom he had four children. Pedro Infante was an avid pilot and well-known for his daredevil flying style. He was born on April 15, 1957 in a crash. At his funeral was attended by thousands of mourners and also in celebration of his 25th death anniversary tens of thousands of people were present. His films and records were far beyond his death an audience. It resulted in several film documentaries about him.
