Pedro Miguel da Silva Mendes (born 26 February 1979 in Guimarães ) is a Portuguese football player.

Career

Association

In Portugal, he played for Vitória Guimaraes and FC Porto. This was followed by stations in England, at the Tottenham Hotspur and FC Portsmouth, with whom he won the FA Cup in 2008. After this success, Mendes joined the Scottish League to the Rangers. The club paid 3.8 million euro transfer fee and paid the Portuguese with a contract until 30 June 2011.

January 2010 he moved again back to Portugal. The first division side Sporting Lisbon announced the commitment Mendes. He got there a contract until 2012 and hopes to again more match practice. After only one and a half years, Mendes left Lisbon in July 2011 in order to his former club Vitória Guimarães to join. He got there a contract until 2013.

National

Pedro Mendes took part with the Portuguese Under-21 national team at the U21 European Championship in 2002 and completed a game. His first game for the Portuguese national football team, he completed on 20 November 2002, in a friendly match against Scotland, where he won with his compatriot 2-0. Then he moved to FC Porto, who were in the following season Champions League winners. Since then, he is national team of his country. He was also on the national team at the 2004 European Football Championship on home soil. He played for Miguel in the finals against the Greek national football team, that the Greeks won 1-0. In addition, he also played in the qualifying matches of the Football World Cup 2006.
