Pedro Pablo Kuczynski

Pedro Pablo Kuczynski Godard ( born October 3, 1938 in Lima) is a Peruvian politician and economist. He also owns the U.S. citizenship.

Life

Kuczynski is the son of the German physician Max Kuczynski, who immigrated in the period of National Socialism to Peru. He studied at Oxford and Princeton. He worked as a banker and financial expert in recent years in the United States. Previously, he was already working for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and for the Peruvian Central Bank.

For the first time on a government post Kuczynski sat from 1980 to 1985 in the second government of Fernando Belaúnde Terry. There he took over the post of energy minister. He is regarded in his political opinion as neoliberalism.

After the elections in Peru in 2001, it was no surprise that Pedro Kuczynski was taken by Alejandro Toledo in his cabinet. To him, the Minister for Economic Affairs and Finance was passed. He is known in world politics and equipped with international contacts through his work. Toledo wanted to do with him abroad a positive climate and thus secure loans and direct investment to the country. Toledo should be confirmed in his view, because the Peruvian Brady bonds posted their strongest rise since 1998 and the Peruvian stock market also reacted with a massive leap upwards.

In Toledo, Kuczynski was dated 14 August 2005 to 28 July 2006 Prime Minister of Peru. This could be seen as a sign that the ongoing neo-liberal economic course should be maintained. In his capacity as Prime Minister, he put the government of a strict austerity program.

He stood as a candidate in the elections in Peru in 2011 for the presidency. If he had been elected, he wanted to renounce his U.S. citizenship. On election day, however, he received just under 20 percent, only the third-largest share of votes and therefore was not allowed to compete in the runoff in the 2nd round.
