History

Prehistory and faster expansion in major German cities

The company was founded in Dusseldorf on 20 April 1900 by the Dutch merchants Johann Theodor Peek and Cloppenburg Adolph Heinrich Anton as " Peek et Cloppenburg GmbH". The two had previously co-founded in 1869 the still existing Peek & Cloppenburg companies in the Netherlands. Also, 1900 saw the opening of the first sale house in Düsseldorf Schadowstraße 30 A short time later opened James Cloppenburg, son of Heinrich Cloppenburg, in the Berlin Gertraudenstraße 26-27 corner Roßstraße the second house and campaigned with the slogan " Special Home for Men - and boys Confection ". Patrick Cloppenburg changed on 1 January 2010 in the management of Peek & Cloppenburg Dusseldorf and was his father's deputy Harro Uwe Cloppenburg.
