Peerage of Great Britain
The Peerage of Great Britain comprises all peer - Would that have been created in the Kingdom of Great Britain after the Act of Union 1707 to the Act of Union in 1800. The Peerage of Great-Britain thus replaced the Peerage of England and the Peerage of Scotland, until it was itself replaced in 1801 by the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
Until the adoption of the House of Lords Act 1999 all peers had a seat in the House of Lords. The ranks of the English peerage are Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount and Baron (equivalent to Duke, Marquis, Earl, Viscount and Baron).
