Peeter Volkonski

Peeter Volkonski (Russian Пётр Андреевич Волконский, Pyotr Andreyevich Wolkonski; born September 12, 1954 in Tallinn) is an Estonian actor, rock musician and composer.

Volkonski comes from the Estonian branch of the Russian prince Rurik family Wolkonski. His great-grandfather was a brother of Sergei Mikhailovich Wolkonski. His father Andrei Mikhailovich Wolkonski was known as a harpsichordist, composer and promoter of early music, his mother is the poet Helvi Jürisson ( born October 5, 1928).

After studying at the Estonian Music Academy in Tallinn, he worked as an actor in various films and was in 1980 singer of the punk rock band propeller. His version of the song Mis maa see on ( What a country is this?), Originally for Siiri Sisask, has become particularly well known. He was awarded the Order of the White Star, 5th Class ( Knight's Cross ) 2001.
