Peipin

Peipin is a commune with 1412 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Alpes- de -Haute -Provence, Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

The place is situated on the Durance at an altitude of about 460 meters above the sea.

History

There is evidence that as early as the Iron Age was an oppidum in Peipin. Peipin is located on the former Via Domitia. At the beginning of the 13th century, a customs station was built in Peipin, this lasted until 1758.
