Pekka Pohjola

Pekka Pohjola ( born January 13, 1952 in Helsinki, † 27 November 2008) was a Finnish multi-instrumentalist, composer, jazz and rock musicians, who made a name for himself mainly as an electric bass player.

In Pohjola's music has elements of jazz, rock, fusion and classical music combine. Known to a wider audience it was created in 1977 through the collaboration of Mike Oldfield on his album Keesojen Lehto, which was released in the UK under the title Mathematician 's Air Display. In 1979 he accompanied Mike Oldfield on his European tour and can be heard on the recorded this live album Exposed.

His sons Verneri and Ilmari are also musicians and played on Pohjola's latest album views with.
