Pelle Petterson

Pelle Petterson ( born July 31, 1932 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish sailors, sailboat designer and industrial designer.

Petterson won together with Holger Sundström at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 1964 the bronze medal in sailing the Star class in 1972 at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich and Kiel with Stellan Westerdahl the silver medal just ahead of William cow pasture. In 1969 he became world champion in the Star class, in this class, he was several times European champions. Also in other classes of boat he has successfully operated in the international racing scene.

Petterson is also known as a designer of sailboats, for example, the company Maxi Yachts ( Cruising), the Italian Vega - boats or the open keel boat c55.

He also created in 1957, at that time still in service by Frua, the sporty coupé Volvo P1800. His other work in industrial and product design include work for Electrolux, Flymo, Rosengren, Volvo Penta marine engines, as well as designs as furniture, door and window fittings and toilets.

Awards

  • 2004 Design Award of the Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm.
  • Royal Order of 2010 ( 12 degrees in the blue band ) for outstanding achievements as sailors and boat designers.
