Pembroke is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire in the United States.

History

The village was founded in 1728 and named after the officer " John Lovewell " as " Lovewell 's Town ". A short time later, the village was renamed in Suncook, after the river. Only in 1759 the village was named after the ninth Earl of Pembroke in Wales as Prembroke.

In Pembroke, there were many water mills, which were driven by the Suncook River. In 1852, then a railway track, including a railway station was built. Thus Pembroke is the population center of New Hampshire.

Education

Pembroke has four schools. The " Village School " is for kindergartners and first graders the. The " Hill School " is the eighth of the Second through fourth grade, the "Three River School " to the class, and " Pembroke Academy" for the remaining classes.
