Pemiscot County, Missouri

The Pemiscot County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had .. inhabitants and a population density of 14.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Caruthersville, which was named after Sam Caruthers, a member of the Congress of the United States.

Geography

The County is located in the so-called Missouri Bootheel (German: boot heel ) in the extreme southeast of the state on the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Tennessee. History

The Pemiscot County was formed on February 15, 1851 former parts of New Madrid County. It was named after the Native American term for liquid mud.
