Pendlebury Library of Music

The Pendlebury Library of Music is the library of arts faculty of the University of Cambridge, England. The library is housed in a new building, which was completed in 1984 and was designed by Sir Leslie Martin. The library is located in close proximity to the West Road Concert Hall and the old administration building of the Faculty of Music on the Sidgwick Site Campus, West Road, Cambridge.

The current book signatures and classification schemes is similar to the Cambridge University libraries music library, and is based on a simple classification system of three digits. The library can be used by all members of the University.

History

The library was named after Richard Pendlebury, the first over appropriated the Fitzwilliam Museum his collection of printed music and music manuscripts; From there, the collection was then largely transferred to the Cambridge University Library. In 1929 this collection then formed the basis of The Pendlebury Library of Music, which became the Faculty of Music paid. 1994, all music manuscripts in the Cambridge University Library has been sent. Pendleburys original collection of printed music editions can still be seen in Pendlebury Library of Music.
