Pendleton is a small town with an area of 26.0 km ² in Oregon and the county seat of Umatilla County. In 2004, the city had 16,605 inhabitants.

History

1851 taught Dr. William C. McKay, a shop near the mouth of McKay creek one. In 1865 a post office was set up, which is still led Marshall as a place name. Marshall was the name of a businessman who was a merchant in the place. The city was officially founded in 1880.

In 1900, Pendleton had 4406 inhabitants and was the fourth largest city in Oregon. How many places in Eastern Oregon Pendleton also has a bustling Chinatown in the 1880s and 1920s. The city was in 1868 by George H. Pendleton, a candidate for vice-president, named. Pendleton Woolen Mills, opened in 1893, is a world famous manufacturer of Indian blankets and embroidered men's ponchos.

Since 1910, the annual Pendleton Roundup Rodeo is held here as part of the PRCA competition.

Another special feature is the red light district, which had in 1947 20 brothels in the center.

The road access is guaranteed by the Interstate 84 ( west), which is connected to Pendleton Portland in the West and Boise to the east.

The Umatilla River flows through Pendleton.
