Peneia-Pony

The Peneia Pony is a native of the Greek province Eleia horse race.

Exterior

The Peneia Pony has an expressive head, a straight profile, intelligent eyes, small ears, a strong straight neck, a thick mane with strong Schopf, a low-set tail and small, hard hooves. The hind legs are often asked and cow-hocked hindquarters appear weak. Nevertheless, the Peneia Pony is more powerful than the other Greek horse breeds and is very well suited as a mountain horse.

The Height of 127-142 cm. Often stitchhaired, foxes and sable are represented, rarely Brown and Black Brown.

Interior

The Peneia Pony was valued in ancient times due to the industrious and unassuming way as riding and pack pony.

Breeding history

Previously employed in agriculture, the Peneia Pony is now threatened with extinction because of mechanization.
