Common pennants (Heniochus acuminatus )

The common Pennant (Heniochus acuminatus ) is a species of the family of butterfly fish.

The fish has a white, high-backed and laterally flattened body. Characteristic of him are the solid to a long, white banner front part of the dorsal fin and the two black horizontal stripes. Caudal fin and the rear weichstrahlige part of the dorsal fin are yellow.

The Common pennant fish reaches a length of up to 25 cm. He lives alone, in pairs or in small groups in the Indo-Pacific to the Marshall Islands. He can always be found near the coast and reefs.

Banner fish feed on zooplankton.

The attractive colored Common Wimpelfisch is often seen in public marine aquaria.
