Valais Alps to SOIUSA Classification

Landscapes of national importance ( Switzerland )

According to Article 5 of the Federal Law on Nature and Cultural Heritage Protection in Switzerland leads a Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance.

In the Valais Alps, there are currently seven of these landscapes:

Tourism

Remote / distance trails

The Via Alpina, a cross-border long-distance trail with five sub- paths through the whole Alps, also passes through the Valais Alps. The Blue Trail Via Alpina runs with 20 stages across the southeast, the Italian part of the Valais Alps with a short trip to the Swiss side.
