Penny Rimbaud

Penny Rimbaud ( born June 8, 1943 in Northwood, Middlesex, civil Jeremy John Ratter ), is an English musician, producer, sound engineer, sound designer and writer. He founded in 1977 with friends, the anarcho- punk band Crass.

Penny Rimbaud ( namesake of the poet Arthur Rimbaud was ) is considered an ideological mentor and founder of the anarchist concept of the band. He was the drummer and lyricist. During this time he also worked actively as a producer, sound engineer and sound designer for the record label Crass Records. His sound collages and loops of radio, TV and noise, as well as its characteristic drumming characterize his productions to date.

Penny Rimbaud has already been described in the 1970s, the experiences with the band in essays and until now worked as a writer. His autobiography Shibboleth My Revolting Life 2004 is also published in German language.

He lives in the old Crass commune on the outskirts of Essex and works as a solo artist and in collaboration with former Crass members.
