Penobscot County is a county located in the state of Maine in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Bangor.

History

The County was formed on February 15, 1816 from parts of Hancock County. It was named for the Penobscot River, the longest river in Maine, which flows through the county.

Geography
