Pentagon Memorial

The Pentagon Memorial is a monument, dedicated to the 184 people who died in the building and on American Airlines Flight # 77 in the attacks on 11 September 2001. It is located southwest of the Pentagon in Arlington, in the United States.

The monument was designed by Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman of the architectural firm Kaseman Beckman Advanced Strategies.

Dedication Ceremony

The monument was inaugurated on September 11, 2008 by U.S. President George W. Bush. More than 20,000 people attended the ceremony, including the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen and the former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Robert M. Gates. The monument has been opened by 19 clock with a separate ceremony for the public.
