Peoria Rivermen (ECHL)

The Peoria Rivermen were an American ice hockey franchise of the East Coast Hockey League from Peoria, Illinois. Their home stadium was the Carver Arena.

History

From 1984 to 1996 already played an eponymous franchise in the International Hockey League. After this had been following the 1995/96 season to San Antonio, Texas, relocated and renamed San Antonio Dragons, the tradition of the Peoria Rivermen it was decided a league lower in the East Coast Hockey League to continue. In the ECHL Peoria's biggest success was winning the Kelly Cup, the championship of the league. In the 1999/2000 season

After 2005, the Worcester IceCats was transferred from the higher-class American Hockey League to Peoria, presented the ECHL team a game operation and the tradition of the Peoria Rivermen was continued from the 2005/06 season in the AHL.
