Pepin County, Wisconsin
Pepin County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin in the United States. In the census in 2010, the County had 7469 inhabitants and a population density of 12.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Durand, which was to Miles Durand Prindle, an early settler in the area, named.
Geography
The County is located in western Wisconsin, bounded on the southwest by Minnesota, separated by the Mississippi River, which is the natural border and has an area of 644 square kilometers, of which 42 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Pepin County was formed in 1858 from parts of Dunn County. It was named after the French conquerors Pierre and Jean Pepin you Chardonnets.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2000 lived in Pepin County 7,213 people who were distributed among 2,759 households and 1,934 families. The population density was 12 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 98.90 percent White, 0.08 percent African American, 0.19 percent Native American, 0.21 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.08 percent from other races groups; 0.49 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.35 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 2,759 households out of which 32.4 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.9 percent were married couples living together, 6.8 percent were single mothers. 29.9 percent were non-families. 26.1 percent of all households and 13.6 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size is 3.13 people.
26.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 7.9 percent between 18 to 24, 25.9 percent between 25 and 44, 22.8 percent between 45 and 64, and 16.8 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 101.1 males.
