Per Eklund (ice hockey)

Per Eklund ( born July 9, 1970 in Sollentuna ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current - functionary and coach, who in seasons 2000/ 01 and 2006/ 07 for the Krefeld Penguins, or for the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga was active. Career

Eklund began his career in 1987 at Väsby IK in the then second highest Swedish league, Division 1, where the striker was one of the point best players in the team and scored in the five years that he was at the club under contract in 118 games 118 points scorer. For the 1992/93 season he moved within the league to Huddinge IK. After two years he left the club and joined the first division Djurgårdens IF, where he received his first appearances in the top division, the Elitserien. When he again performed well in his first season in the Swedish elite class, some talent scouts from the National Hockey League have been aware of the right-handed shooters. Finally, there were the leaders of the Detroit Red Wings, who selected him during the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 in the seventh round at 182 position. After another short spell at Djurgårdens IF and the Straubing Tigers of the DEL 2007, he moved into the fourth highest Swedish league, Division 2, Sollentuna HC, where he stood the next two years under contract before Eklund after the 2008 season / 09 his playing career ended.
