Per Kværne

Per Kværne ( born April 1, 1945 in Oslo) is a Norwegian Tibetologist, religious scholars and art historians. His special interest is the Tibetan Bon religion. 1970 acquired by Kværne the academic degree of Mag. in Sanskrit at the University of Oslo. Between 1970 and 1975 he taught history of religion at the University of Bergen. About his work An Anthology of Buddhist Tantric Songs 1973 he received the degree of Dr. phil. from the University of Oslo. 1976 Per Kværne elected member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences. He became chairman of Instituttet for sammenlignende kulturforskning 1992. From 1975 to 2007 Per Kværne was a professor of religious history at the University of Oslo and is now professor emeritus.
