Per Pinstrup-Andersen

Per Pinstrup -Andersen ( born April 7, 1939 in Bislev ) is a Danish agricultural economist. He is a professor at Cornell University.

Life

Pinstrup -Andersen studied agricultural economics at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (BS, 1965) and at Oklahoma State University (MS, 1967 and Ph.D., 1969). From 1969 to 1976 he worked at CIAT. 1977 to 1980 he was at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. 1980 to 1987 he worked at IFPRI, whose director he was between 1992 and 2002. From 1987 to 1992 he taught at Cornell. Since 2003 he is again a professor at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University and at Cornell.

Pinstrup -Andersen holds five honorary doctorates and won the 2001 World Food Prize for his contributions to agricultural research, food policy and the lives of the poor.

To Pinstrup - Andersen's research interests include food policy, research and technology policy, and globalization and nutrition. He has published over 400 books, articles and book chapters.
