Per Westerberg

Per Erik Gunnar Westerberg ( born August 2, 1951 in Nyköping ) is a Swedish politician of the Moderate is samlingspartiet and since October 2, 2006, President of the Swedish Parliament.

The economist Westerberg is a member of parliament since 1979. In the government Bildt 1991-1994 he was Minister of Economic Affairs. From 2003 to 2006 he was Vice President of the Reichstag and its interim president, before he was elected in the wake of the 2006 election with 177 to 169 votes for president. Opposition candidate was the hitherto reigning president of the Reichstag Björn von Sydow.
