Peramivir is an experimental drug from the group of neuraminidase inhibitor that is being developed for the treatment of flu ( influenza). Peramivir virostatic acts by inhibiting viral neuraminidase, an enzyme that allows the release of newly formed virus from propagating through the host cell.

Peramivir differs from the neuraminidase inhibitors zanamivir and oseltamivir in that it is administered intravenously.

In October 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( Food and Drug Administration, FDA) peramivir as a solution for injection for the treatment of pandemic influenza H1N1 2009 ("swine flu") has admitted in an emergency. The drug is not approved for treatment of seasonal influenza or H1N1 uncomplicated disease. The peramivir information to the FDA for physicians, with the call, observed adverse events within seven days to report to the FDA, have been published. This emergency authorization was repealed June 23, 2010. Peramivir can be imported from Japan, where it is licensed under the drug product name Rapiacta.
