Percheronhengst

The Percheron is a draft horse breed of horses from the Perche region in northwestern France.

Exterior

In Europe, most Percherons are real mold, black horses are less frequent. In the U.S., rap and Brown are more common. Percherons a Height 1.55 to 1.72 meter reach with an average weight of about 900 kg; the average size is 1.66 m.

Breeding history

The Percheron was originally bred as a heavy train and work horse.

The French national stud Haras du Pin is located in the Normandy Orne and is the stronghold of the Percheron breed. The stud was built in 1715 and is due to its unique architecture as the " Versailles of the Horse ". During the summer months of July and August on Thursdays takes place in the courtyard of a stud horse parade called " Les Jeudis " instead. On the occasion especially Percherons are mounted and presented in front of the carriage.
