Perduellio

Perduellio (Latin per duellum, dt treason ) is the Roman name for the criminal hostile acts especially of office-holders against the Roman commonwealth.

The exact offense is unclear, the violence against the community are not defined. Perduellio is part of the Twelve Tables, and was punished with death. It can be assumed that perduellio was subject to public prosecution since the early days of the Republic. The defendant was able to escape by Selbstexilierung condemnation.
