Père Marie-Benoît

Pierre Péteul ( born March 30, 1895 in Le Bourg d' Iré, Maine -et -Loire; † 5 February 1990) was known as a Capuchin monk under the name Père Marie- Benoît and the Père juifs ("Father of the Jews" ).

During the Second World War he helped about 4,000 Jews from southern France to escape to Spain, Switzerland and Italy. Later he became a member and President of DELASEM ( delegation for their support of the Jews in Italy).

He is one of the French Righteous Among the Nations and was included in the Yad Vashem.
