Pergola, Marche
Pergola is a town with 6516 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, Marche region of Italy. It is located about 60 km west of Ancona, the regional capital.

Geographical Location
The place is located in the wine -rich valley of the Cesano River, which flows east to the Adriatic Sea.
Neighboring communities
Borders the following municipalities: Arcevia (AN), Cagli, Fossombrone, Fratte Rosa, Fronton, San Lorenzo in Campo, Sassoferrato (AN) and Serra Sant'Abbondio.
History
1946 valuable Roman bronze statues have been found dating from the 1st century AD in a field, the golden bronzes of Cartoceto di Pergola. For it is a museum.
Twinning
Since 2010 Pergola maintains partnership relations with the German city of Gernsbach.

Structures
The Gothic church of San Francesco was built in 1255 in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. It is to see a " proclamation " of Lavinia Fontana ( 1552-1614 ).
Specialty
The place is known for the Vernacolo wine from the Vernaccia grape. He is purple and smells strong.
