Perhentian Islands

The Perhentian Islands ( Malay: Pulau Perhentian ) are a located off the east coast of the Malay Peninsula archipelago in the South China Sea. The Malaysian state of Terengganu to the islands belonging are about 10 nautical miles (19 km) from the port of Kuala Besut and nearly 64 km from Thailand.

The two main islands are Perhentian Besar ( "Greater Perhentian " ) and Perhentian Kecil ( " Small Perhentian "). Near Perhentian Kecil are small uninhabited islands Susu Dara, Seringgi and Rawa. The islands belong to Pulau Redang National Marine Park. Fishing and dumping of waste is prohibited.

The islands are covered by jungle and surrounded by white sandy beaches, which are simple to luxurious beach resorts. The highest elevation is about 100 meters above sea level.

On the island of Perhentian Kecil is a fishing village with a harbor and school. There are no roads. Always known the islands by their good opportunities for diving and snorkeling.
