Perinaldo

Perinaldo ( in Ligurian: Preiàudu ) is a municipality with 913 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Liguria. Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia.

Geography

Perinaldo lies at the source of the stream which flows at Verbone Vallecrosia in the Ligurian Sea. The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana Intemelia and is approximately 53 km from the provincial capital of Imperia.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity, the community of Zone 3 was assigned. This means that Perinaldo is in a seismically active zone little.

History

The place dates back to the XI. Century and was founded by Count Rinaldo di Ventimiglia. Napoleon lived there in 1797 during his campaign in Italy in the house Allavena. Perinaldo is also the birthplace of the astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini (1625-1712) and Giacomo Filippo Maraldi ( 1665-1729 ). The Castle of the Cassini still exists today.

Climate

The municipality is classified under climate category E, since the number of degree days has a value of 2521. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between October 15 and April 15, for 14 hours each day.

In addition, the municipality is a member of the Federation of European cities Napoleon.

Specialty

In the vicinity of the only noteworthy DOC red wine of Liguria also grown - Rossese of Dolce Acqua.
