Periphetes

Periphetes (Greek Περιφήτης ) is a figure from Greek mythology.

The best-known version of the story of Periphetes ( "club chair " ) is found in Ovid's Metamorphoses, VII 436f.

Periphetes is a son of the gods blacksmith Hephaestus, and lurking with his iron mace unsuspecting travelers who are on the way to the place of worship Epidaurus, on to rob them. He is finally brought Theseus to the track.
