Peros Banhos is an atoll in the Indian Ocean, which is geographically part of the Chagos Archipelago. Among the islands of Peros Banhos include Grande Soeur, Ile du Coin, Ile diamond and Île Yeye. Politically, the atoll is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory.

The archipelago was discovered about 1500 by Alfonso d' Albuquerque, who had also found Diego Garcia. Later it was occupied by the French and administered from Mauritius. In the wake of the Napoleonic wars it was handed over to the UK.

1965 leased the British Peros Banhos and other islands of the Chagos islands, such as Diego Garcia, for 50 years to the United States. The Islanders ( Chagossians ) were forcibly relocated then, access to the atoll is strictly prohibited. The eastern part of the atoll, east of Moresby Iceland in the north and in the south of Iceland Fouquet, now belongs to the Peros Banhos Atoll Strict Nature Reserve.
