Persimmon plc is the largest construction company in the UK by market capitalization. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange in the FTSE 100. The company is located in York, England. The company was named after a racehorse that won 1896 Derby and St. Leger for the Prince of Wales.

Persimmon was founded in 1972 by Duncan Davidson and went in 1985 to the London Stock Exchange. In 2001 the company acquired the company Beazer Persimmon Group, making it rose to become the largest construction companies in the UK. Persimmon is active only in the UK. The company owns the company Charles Church, which in the UK is very well known for exclusive construction. In January 2006, the company acquired Westbury Persimmon plc., A British competitor in the construction industry.
