Person County, North Carolina

Person County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Roxboro, which was named after the town of Roxburgh in Scotland.

Geography

The County is located in the north of North Carolina, bordered by Virginia and has an area of ​​1047 square kilometers, of which 31 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Granville County, Durham County, Orange County, Caswell County and the Halifax County, Virginia.

Person County is divided into nine townships: Allensville, Bushy Fork, Cunningham, Flat River, Holloway, Mount Tirzah, Olive Hill Roxboro, and Woodsdale.

History

Person County was formed in 1791 from parts of Caswell County. It was named after Thomas Person, a general in the American Revolutionary War.
