Pertek

Pertek is a district and a city of Tunceli province in Turkey. It lies in the south of the province on the border with the province of Elazig and has an area of 945 km ². The county Pertek has 11,839 inhabitants (as of 2011). Half of the population lives ( 6,619 inhabitants) in the city Pertek. Zazaki and Kurmanji are the most common languages of the district. Other places in the district are, for example, Akdemir and Demirsaban.
The old town of Pertek sunk Keban Reservoir. The fortress Pertek - the namesake - stands out on an island in the reservoir. The new city Pertek lies at the reservoir. From here there is a ferry connection to Elazig.
The name derives from the Pertek Armenian word for fortress Pert / Pertag and means " Small Fortress ". Evliya Çelebi After derives its name from the fortress of a statue of an imperial eagle, who was called in Mongolian Pertenek. The statue stood on the top of the fortress.
