Pertek is a district and a city of Tunceli province in Turkey. It lies in the south of the province on the border with the province of Elazig and has an area of 945 km ². The county Pertek has 11,839 inhabitants (as of 2011). Half of the population lives ( 6,619 inhabitants) in the city Pertek. Zazaki and Kurmanji are the most common languages ​​of the district. Other places in the district are, for example, Akdemir and Demirsaban.

The old town of Pertek sunk Keban Reservoir. The fortress Pertek - the namesake - stands out on an island in the reservoir. The new city Pertek lies at the reservoir. From here there is a ferry connection to Elazig.

The name derives from the Pertek Armenian word for fortress Pert / Pertag and means " Small Fortress ". Evliya Çelebi After derives its name from the fortress of a statue of an imperial eagle, who was called in Mongolian Pertenek. The statue stood on the top of the fortress.
