Perthshire

Perthshire (Gaelic Siorrachd Pheairt ) or " County of Perth " is one of the traditional counties of Scotland. Historical capital and the eponymous town is the city of Perth. Perthshire borders on the traditional counties of Argyll, Inverness- shire, Fife, Aberdeenshire, Kinross -shire, Angus, Stirlingshire and Dunbartonshire.

The area extends between the Pass of Drumochter in the North, Strathmore to the east, Aberfoyle in the south and the Rannoch Moor and Ben Lui in the west, and has an area of 5,300 km ².

Administrative history

As the administrative county was Perthshire since 1890. 1929 it received a joint management with the neighboring county of Kinross -shire. In the administrative reform of 1975 Perthshire went on in the District of Perth and Kinross Tayside Region and the District of Stirling Central Region. Since 1996, Perth and Kinross and Stirling unitary authorities.
