Peru is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is also the county seat of Miami County.
At the last census in 2010 it had a population of 11,417.
History
Peru was founded in 1834 by Jason C. Smith. The Model Automobile Company settled in the early 20th century in Peru on, but could not hold on to. Peru is located on the Wabash River.
Circus Capital of the World
Peru is often referred to as a world circus capital. Many well-known circuses wintered in neighborhoods in and around Peru. The Circus Hall of Fame is located in Peru.
