Pescasseroli

Pescasseroli is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2209 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of L' Aquila in the Abruzzo region. The community is located about 85 kilometers southeast of L' Aquila on Sangro and directly borders the province of Frosinone ( Lazio ). Neighboring municipalities are Alvito (FR), Bisegna, Campoli Apennines (FR), Gioia dei Marsi, Lecce nei Marsi, Opi, San Donato Val di Comino (FR), Scanno, Villavallelonga.

Pescasseroli belongs to the Comunità Montana Alto Sangro Cinquemiglia and is part of the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. There is also the National Park Service.

History

The community was a stage of the Giro d' Italia in 1971.

Economy and Transport

Passing through the municipality, the former Strada Statale 83 Marsicana (now a regional road ) from Cerchio after Scontrone. The nearby Monte delle Vitelle (1966 Metwer ) is an area for ski touring.
