Pescocostanzo

Pescocostanzo is an Italian commune in the province of L' Aquila. The place is part of the plateau " Alto Piano delle cinque miglia ". The village lies within the Majella National Park. The community Pescocostanzo is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Here live 1138 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012). The nearby towns are Ateleta, Cansano, Palena (CH), Pettorano sul Gizio, Rivisondoli, Rocca Pia and Roccaraso.

The train station of Pescocostanzo is with a height of 1268.82 m slm the second highest of the Italian railway network. Only the station on the burner on the border between Italy and Austria is still higher up.

Pescocostanzo has a basilica ( Basilica of Santa Maria del Colle ), which is counted among the most beautiful in Italy. Due to its location, it is used for tourism greatly both in summer and in winter.
