Peshtera Monastery

The Peschtera monastery is the Saint Nicholas of Myra dedicated ( Bulgarian Пещерски манастир " Свети Николай Мирликийски " / Pechersky manastir " Sveti Nikolaj Mirlikijski " ) and is located around 70 km south-west of the Bulgarian capital Sofia, around 1.5 kilometers east of the village Peschtera in the municipality Zemen.

The monastery in the area Orechowez area Mraka, so it ( манастир Оряховски / Orjachowski manastir ) nor as Oryahovo monastery or convent Mratschki ( Мрачки манастир / Mratschki manastir ) is known.

The monastery was mentioned for the first time in Mraka certificate ( 1348 ), which was made ​​on behalf of the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Alexander.
