Pessinus

Pessinus is an ancient city in Phrygia (Asia Minor), today Ballıhisar, 13 km from Sivrihisar away. John Garstang, it will equate with the Hittite Šallapu. Pessinus is considered to be the origin of the Anatolian Cybele cult. In the sanctuary there was a black meteorite, which was converted BC 205/4 to Rome. Since 1967, Belgian excavations are taking place there.

Particularly impressive are the black outlines of the sacred mountain Dindymos. In the village Ballıhisar you will find a small museum.
