Peta Buscombe, Baroness Buscombe
Peta Jane Buscombe, Baroness Buscombe, born O'Flynn ( born March 12, 1954) is a British lawyer and politician ( Conservative Party ) and Life Peeress.
Life and career
She attended the Hinchley Wood School, later the Rosebery Grammar School in Epsom, Surrey. Your training as a lawyer she graduated from the Inns of Court School of Law and Columbia Law School in New York City. In 1977 it was approved by the London Bar Inner Temple as a lawyer. From 1979 to 1980 she worked as a legal ( Legal Advisor ) for the Dairy Trade Federation. From 1997 to 1999 she was Deputy Chairman ( Vice - Chair ) of the Conservative Party. From 1997 to 2001 she was President of Slough Conservative Association.
She was from 2007 to 2009 Chief Executive of the Advertising Association. They launched a restructuring of the Advertising Association, with the aim to create a think tank at a high level, which act as a single voice for the advertising industry and should represent equally advertisers, agencies and media owners. She tried hard to take influence on governments and regulatory authorities at the highest level, both in Brussels and in the UK. They also advocated that create a better atmosphere in the public on the importance of the advertising industry.
Buscombe was chairman ( chairwoman ) of the Press Complaints Commission, in which it in April 2009 came to 16 October 2011. According criticism of their office at the PCC, especially in dealing with the hacking scandal at the News of the World, she put resign.
Currently (as of June 2012) is Director of Veolia Water Central Limited (formerly Three Valleys Water ), a private water company for Hertfordshire and Surrey.
