Petar Petrov (athlete)

Petar Petrov ( Bulgarian Петър Петров, English transcription Petar Petrov, . Born February 17, 1955 in Svishtov ) is a retired Bulgarian sprinter.

In 1973 he became vice - European Junior champion over 100 m and 200 m.

In 1976, he won over 60 m bronze at the Indoor Athletics Championships in Munich and came over 100m eighth at the Olympic Games in Montreal to eighth place.

Each silver he won the 100m at the Universiade in 1977 and about 60 m at the European Indoor Championships 1978 in Milan. The European Athletics Championships 1978 in Prague, he was fourth, and at the European Indoor Championships 1979, he won bronze.

At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 he exhibited in the quarterfinals over 100 m on a national record, and ran in the finals on the bronze medal behind Britain's Allan Wells and the Cuban Silvio Leonard. About 200 meters he reached the quarterfinals, and in the 4 x 100 - meter relay, he was with the Bulgarian team in sixth.

His last final appearance at international championships he had two years later, when he finished in eighth place with the Bulgarian shot over 4 x 100 m.

Bulgarian champion he was six times over 100 m (1974, 1976-1980 ), three times over 200 m (1974, 1976, 1977 ) and five times in the hall about 60 m ( 1975, 1976, 1978-1980 ).
