Pete George

Peter George ( born June 29, 1929 in Akron, Ohio ) is a former American professional weightlifter.

Career

Peter George came as a high school student with the weight lifting in touch. He made such rapid progress that he as a 17 -year-old already American champion and 18 -year-old 1947 world champion in Philadelphia in 1946, where he beat the Olympic champion weightlifter legend Anthony Terlazzo. Then he started to 1956 when all the Olympics and World Championships and won a total of five times. What was remarkable was its reliability. From 1946 to 1957 he was with all major events, in which he started, either winning or he took second place. In 1953, he accomplished an extraordinary achievement when he abtrainierte 8 kg to start from tactical team in the lightweight can.

Pete George studied dentistry and was a dentist in the United States Army and later in Florida.
