Pete Henderson

Pete Henderson ( born February 18, 1895 in Arran, Ontario, † June 19, 1940 in Los Angeles, California ) was a Canadian race car driver.

Pete Henderson is one of the first known race driver from Canada. In 1914 he went to the USA and joined there the top teams to take part in races on wooden ovals. As "Riding Mechanic" ( passenger) of Tom Alley, he was on July 4th, 1914 Fifth in the first race on the dirt track of Sioux City more than 300 miles.

His first race in the AAA National Championship he went on the Des Moines Speedway in 1915 for the Duesenberg team. In 1916 he as team-mate Eddie Rickenbacker in Prest -O -Lite team in a Maxwell Second in Des Moines was. In October 1917 he won the wooden oval race in Chicago. When he won the Indianapolis 500 in 1916 and 1920 each have a place in the top ten.
