Peter Ahola

Peter Kristian Ahola ( born May 14, 1968 in Espoo ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, Espoo Blues, HIFK Helsinki and Turku TPS in the SM- liiga and Södertälje SK in the Elitserien.

Career

Ahola began his career in his hometown at Kiekko - Espoo, where he first went through the youth teams of the club. In the season 1987/88 he was first in the senior team that was mediocre at this time, are used. Likewise, after the rise in the first division, the second division, a year later. In the summer of 1989, the defender went to North America and began studying at Boston University, where he ran aground at the same time for the university team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

After two years there, the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL undertook the ungedrafteten free agent. In his first year, in the season 1991/92, he came up with 71 games in the NHL, but was also used in seven games in the unterklassigen International Hockey League with the Phoenix Roadrunners. Nevertheless, the Kings gave the Finns in November 1992 from the beginning of the game year 1992/93 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. This sent him to only about four months back to California, this time to the San Jose Sharks, where Ahola finished the season. In summer, the Sharks him then transferred for Dave Capuano to the Tampa Bay Lightning, which in turn charges him in October to the Calgary Flames, without that he had also just a game for this contest. There he first ran again for his hometown club Espoo Blues to, before joining HIFK Helsinki for the 1995/96 season. After two years there followed two seasons with TPS Turku and his home club, who had renamed the Espoo Blues. For the 2001/02 season the defender moved abroad again. In Södertälje SK of the Swedish Elitserien he trailed off his career, which he finished after the 2002/ 03 season.
