Peter Andreas Heiberg

Peter Andreas Heiberg ( born November 16, 1758 in Vordingborg, † April 30, 1841 in Paris) was a Danish satirist.

Life

Peter Andreas studied philology in Copenhagen. He published after his studies Rigsdaler - Sedlens Händelser ( experiences of a Reichstaler appearances ), and thus began his uncompromising denunciations of the nobility and the bourgeoisie.

His satirical conflict with absolutism were only exacerbated by the French Revolution. Heiberg literary fought against feudalism with songs, singing games, and political pamphlets.

After several court proceedings Heiberg was expelled in 1800 because of his political stance from Denmark. He went to Paris and began working as an interpreter for France.

Peter Andreas Heiberg was the father of Johan Ludvig Heiberg.
